Theatre info

The National Theatre (Národní divadlo) is a national monument of Czech history and art. The opening performance was Libuše by Bedřich Smetana in 1881. After 12 performances the theatre was closed down for finishing touches. A fire broke down on June 1881 and destroyed the copper dome, the auditorium and the stage. The theatre was opened again in 1883.
